The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has signalled its determination to strengthen its political communication and public engagement ahead of the 2027 general elections following the acceptance of appointment by Dr Sam Omale, as the party’s Deputy Spokesperson.
In his acceptance statement, Dr Omale described the appointment as a call to national duty, declaring his readiness to take on the responsibility of communicating the party’s vision, policies and programmes to Nigerians with clarity, confidence and accountability.
He said the NDC’s mission was to ensure that Nigerians understood its political, economic and social agenda, stressing that the party would prioritise direct communication, transparency and practical solutions to the challenges confronting the country.
According to him, the party would not engage in ambiguous explanations, evasive responses or political distractions but would provide clear answers to questions from Nigerians and explain how its proposed policies would translate into tangible improvements in people’s lives.
“No ambiguity. No evasive answers. No ‘bulaba’, ‘bala blue’ or ‘town hall different’ distractions,” Dr Omale declared, emphasising the need for responsible political communication that addresses citizens’ concerns rather than concealing them behind rhetoric.
The newly appointed Deputy Spokesperson also made it clear that the NDC would adopt a firm accountability posture towards the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, particularly regarding economic management, public expenditure and the welfare of Nigerians.
Challenging the Federal Government to provide answers on the management of national resources, Dr Omale posed a question that he said Nigerians deserved to have addressed: “Tinubu, the question remains: where is the money?”
His statement underscores the party’s intention to place economic accountability, transparency and citizens’ welfare at the centre of its public engagement as the country moves towards the 2027 presidential election.
The appointment and Dr Omale’s acceptance declaration point to an effort by the NDC to sharpen its communication machinery, articulate its political alternatives and establish a more direct channel of engagement with the electorate.
However, the strength of its message will ultimately be measured by the clarity of its policy proposals and its ability to sustain meaningful engagement with Nigerians.
With his declaration, Dr Omale has set out the tone of his new assignment: to defend the NDC’s positions, communicate its vision without ambiguity, respond to public concerns and demand accountability from those entrusted with national leadership.
As political activities gradually intensify ahead of 2027, the NDC’s emerging communication strategy places the party’s policies, public accountability and engagement with Nigerians firmly in the spotlight.
For Dr Sam Omale, the message is unequivocal: the assignment has begun, and the NDC is preparing to make its voice heard.
