Ojonugwa’s academic feat is particularly significant against the background of her active involvement in student leadership and service throughout her university years, demonstrating that academic excellence can be sustained alongside meaningful extracurricular responsibilities.
A first-generation college student, Ojonugwa distinguished herself through consistent academic commitment, discipline and determination, eventually rising to become the best graduating student in the Department of Accounting.
Beyond the classroom, she held several leadership positions that exposed her to responsibilities in administration, finance, student welfare and organisational management.
Her leadership engagements included serving as Treasurer of the Nigerian University Accounting Students’ Association (NUASA), Academic Director in the Faculty of Management Sciences and Special Adviser on Students’ Welfare in the Legislative Arm of the Student Union Government.
She also served in financial leadership capacities within the Nigerian Fellowship of Evangelical Students (NIFES), including as Financial Secretary and Treasurer.
Her combination of academic excellence and leadership responsibilities has been described as a reflection of discipline, effective time management, accountability and commitment to service.
Ojonugwa also brings practical experience to her academic qualification, having spent more than two years serving as a treasurer with a non-governmental organisation (NGO), where she was involved in financial responsibilities and organisational accountability.
Her emergence with a CGPA of 4.74 therefore represents not only a personal accomplishment but also a notable contribution to the academic record of the Department of Accounting and Prince Abubakar Audu University.
The achievement has continued to attract commendation from colleagues, friends and members of the university community, with many expressing optimism that her academic background, leadership experience and practical exposure will provide a strong foundation for her professional career in accounting and finance.
