Solemn Faith International Church News
The General Overseer of Solemn Faith International Church, Pastor Mathew James Ele-ojo, has charged Christians to embrace godly living and good behaviour, saying such virtues serve as a “dreadful signal” to the devil and his agents.
Pastor Ele-ojo gave the admonition on Sunday, August 23, 2026, during the church’s service at Road 21, Plot 14, Federal Housing Estate, Woji, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where he preached on the topic, “The Mystery of Godliness, Part 4a & 4b.”
Drawing from biblical texts including 1 Timothy 3:16, 1 Timothy 4:8 and 2 Timothy 2:19–22, the cleric described godliness as the act of conducting oneself in holiness, justice and blamelessness among people.
He identified love, sanctification and orderliness as important attributes of good Christian behaviour, stressing that believers are expected to demonstrate their faith through their conduct and relationships with others.
The pastor advised Christians to spend quality time studying the Word of God, prioritise their salvation, avoid ungodly associations and regularly examine their lives to determine whether their conduct aligns with the principles of their faith.
He also urged believers to depend on the Holy Spirit for guidance and strength, noting that living a godly life requires conscious commitment and spiritual discipline.
According to him, Christians should pursue godliness because it provides assurance of eternity, represents the acceptable way to please God and offers an escape from sinful habits and destructive lifestyles.
He further explained that godly living distinguishes believers from the evil prevalent in society and positions them to experience the goodness and favour of God.
Pastor Ele-ojo said living a godly life requires dying to self and becoming alive to God, crucifying the desires of the flesh, sacrificing personal pleasure for the advancement of God’s kingdom and putting away the old nature to embrace the new life in Christ.
He urged Christians to flee ungodly associations and consistently practise self-discipline, warning that the company people keep can significantly influence their character, values and spiritual development.
The cleric further encouraged believers to guard the Word of God in their hearts, abound in love and deliberately pursue godliness as a daily lifestyle rather than treating it as a mere religious practice.
He observed that discovering and following God’s promises for one’s life is essential to achieving a productive and purposeful existence, adding that godliness does not mean the complete absence of weakness but the courage to confront and overcome one’s weaknesses.
Pastor Ele-ojo also emphasised that Christians must reflect Christ if they intend to represent Him effectively, maintaining that good behaviour attracts favour while also serving as evidence of proper upbringing and spiritual maturity.
He concluded by warning that ungodly behaviour can hinder a person’s spiritual progress and may contribute to unanswered prayers, urging Christians to continually examine their conduct and ensure that their lives reflect the character and teachings of Christ.
