Residents of ANAGADA, along the Zuba–Gwagwalada expressway in Abuja, are now living in fear following a robbery operation in which criminals made away with millions of naira and numerous phones.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, 12th July 2026, when residents of the area were robbed of their belongings by suspected hoodlums.
According to a report gathered by OurWorldGist, the criminals arrived in the area in a commercial bus at about 1:26am and began operating from house to house unhindered, an ordeal that lasted until around 3:30am before they made their escape.
One resident, a pastor who was among the victims, narrated that beyond being subjected to degrading treatment, the criminals seized all his phones along with $2,500 (equivalent to ₦3,454,080) meant for his daughter’s school fees at an American university.
Twenty-eight other residents who spoke with OURWORLDGIST said they were similarly robbed of cash, iPhones, and other valuables.
Sources revealed that some residents attempted to reach the Nigeria Police Force while the operation was still ongoing, but officers arrived only after the hour-long raid had ended.
Several residents, lamenting a repeat of past ordeals, raised concerns over the absence of Vigilante operatives during the attack, questioning why none were on duty when the crime occurred.
They have called for the traditional ruler of Anagada, the vigilante head, and other security stakeholders to be summoned for questioning.
Residents have also jointly appealed to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to launch a full investigation into the incident, stressing that they can no longer feel safe in their own community.
OURWORLDGIST further reports that this is not the first such occurrence in the area, and residents insist that a lasting solution must be found, as recurring incidents like this continue to tarnish the image of the FCT, Abuja.
