Jubilation swept through Abuja, particularly the bustling Lugbe axis, on Friday, October 30, 2026, as the Dunamis International Gospel Centre formally commissioned a state-of-the-art pedestrian bridge.
The facility gives residents and commuters a safe, dignified passage across one of the city’s busiest highways.
Initiated by the church under the visionary leadership of its Senior Pastor, Dr Paul Enenche, the bridge is a landmark intervention.
For years, pedestrians in Lugbe endured daily fear and danger, risking their lives to cross a perilous highway with no dedicated crossing.
The ceremony drew a large and enthusiastic gathering of residents, worshippers and key stakeholders.
Many hailed the project as a timely and compassionate act of responsible religious leadership and a firm commitment to community development.
Speaking with OurWorldGistNews, a cross-section of Abuja residents, especially those living around Lugbe, described the gesture as heartwarming and richly deserving of commendation.
They said the bridge would markedly improve pedestrian safety, ease movement and sharply reduce the dangers of crossing the busy road.
They also praised the cleric for showing that religious leadership must extend beyond the pulpit to practical, life-changing solutions for ordinary citizens.
Addressing the gathering, Pastor Enenche delivered a stirring message on purposeful service, declaring: “IMPACT IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN INCOME.”
He urged individuals to show love and kindness with whatever resources they have, stressing that even modest acts of generosity can leave a lasting mark on people’s lives.
Posing a searching question, “What will you be remembered for?”, he observed that some people will be remembered for the problems they solved, while others will be remembered for the problems they ignored or created.
He reminded the audience that everyone will ultimately give an account of their lives, and he called on them to live purposefully and leave a legacy of positive impact.
Representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Nyesom Wike, led a high-powered delegation of government officials to the event.
He commended Dunamis International Gospel Centre for its steadfast commitment to human development, social responsibility and giving back to society.
Wike expressed deep satisfaction with the project’s successful completion.
He noted that it had faced approval hurdles dating back to 2018 before receiving the necessary approval under the Tinubu administration in February 2026.
He stressed that the occasion was not a political gathering, but said the bridge’s approval and commissioning showed the power of collaboration between government and responsible private institutions in delivering people centred infrastructure.
The Dunamis pedestrian bridge is far more than a physical crossing.
It is a decisive, practical response to a long-standing public safety crisis that exposed residents and commuters to avoidable danger for years.
It also reinforces a compelling truth: leadership is measured not by positions held or wealth accumulated, but by the positive difference made in the lives of others.
For the people of Lugbe, the bridge is a welcome relief, a lasting symbol of compassion and a potentially life-saving gift.
